Planning Our Commercial!

Image
By Emma T, Kaylie E, Sara S, and Sarah R Hello! There is a lot that goes into planning a commercial. We need to consider setting, costumes, props, etc as well as backup plans if something goes wrong.  Props: As our group is doing a Dunkin’ Donuts commercial, some of the props are pretty obvious. We wanted to keep things as simple and economical as possible. We will use a box of Dunkin’ Donuts to show Dunkin’ main product, doughnuts. Costumes: Dunkin’ does not have any specific clothes to use, but we agreed it was better to keep it simple. The actor will begin wearing a white t-shirt and plain jeans. To create excitement, the actor will switch to a colorful shirt and more exciting jeans (maybe with rips or a pattern). This will strengthen the feeling of excitement with the changed setting.  Schedule: 9/22: Our group worked together to research conventional Dunkin’ commercials 9/27: We all discussed ideas and created a plan for the backbone of our commercial 10/01: We crea...

Research On Dunkin' Donuts

Image
By Emma T, Sara S, Sarah R, and Kaylie E Hi, I hope you readers are doing great today! Our group agreed to do a Dunkin’ Donuts commercial. We watched a variety of examples to get some ideas. The first video example, my group and I watched was created in 1984. It included doughnuts and the Dunkin’ logo and uniform. It showed the employee going in and out of his house in different weather conditions before showing the product which was the limit of the editing. It included music and voiceover on it to narrate the scene. The scene was entirely medium shots from eye level. The product, it had the quote “It’s worth it”. In the next example we watched, it started with an animated family of three walking up a hill covered in snow. This transitions into pouring a cup of milk into a foam Dunkin’ cup and adding whipped cream. After the whipped cream was added, it zoomed out to show the cup was hot chocolate with the brand name on it. Then, the commercial cuts to an animated soccer match w...

Group Introduction: My Group Mates

Image
Hello there again! I am in a group with three others, Kaylie E, Sarah R, and Sara S. I am very excited about this group. Usually, I am more reserved when it comes to group projects and prefer to work by myself, but I decided to take a chance on this.       Sarah R is someone I know to be especially dependable and hard-working. She is very good about not letting others do her work for her. However, media is not her strongest point, so I am not sure what her role will be once we start. Most likely she will take on a leadership role because of the group, she is the best at staying on task and keeping up with deadlines. Additionally, she watches a lot of TV which in its own way is an introduction to media. I have many classes with her and we have common interests which will make her enjoyable to work with during the project.       Kaylie E will definitely be an asset. Her knowledge of media is already vast, and she is very artistic. She already ...

Intro Blog: All About Me

Hello, Emma here! I am 15 years old and a sophomore in high school. I am very excited to learn about Media this year. In middle school, I took a TV Production class, so I cannot wait to build on my knowledge. Also, it is pretty awesome as I am a huge TV and movie fan. If I had to pick a favorite movie, it would probably be Top Gun (1986). I had not realized it until I started this class, but much of this is because of the angles, shots, and especially, the music. "Danger Zone" is definitely one of my favorite songs, but I'll have to admit I prefer the Hamilton soundtrack by Lin-Manuel Miranda. That's probably just because I'm a history nerd. I have a particular interest in the American 1920s and ancient cultures, especially Greek. The first thing that really got me into history was visiting Ireland when I was four and seeing the different castles and history. This ignited my love of learning about different cultures. Did you know the Russian Bolshoi Theatre was ...
