So Maybe I'm Biased...About My Partner...and the Song We Chose

  Hello again!

This time I am only partnering with one person, my friend, Ja'neece. I loved my previous group and they were a pleasure to work with, but we all lived far from each other which made it difficult to film. So, I chose to partner with someone I liked and who lived close by. Ja'neece also is someone who will be really helpful in any media project. 

    For one, she is into fashion, TV shows, music, and anything Old Hollywood which gives her a lot of ideas when it comes to media projects. One of her favorite YouTubers is Mina Lee, who is very big on sustainability, economical clothing trends, and novel fashion content on social media. This will be a big help in designing costumes and such as well as developing ideas. With so much exposure to media, she immediately knows what kind of thing she likes to film and what ideas she would like put to life which makes her easy to work with as she is so aware. 

    Secondly, Ja'neece will be especially good at coming up with ideas for music videos. Music videos are really about portraying the meaning of a song which in many ways has to do with psychology and associations the brain makes, which is what she wants to study when she is older. 

    Thirdly, she is very economical. She is good at upcycling and finding the best way to incorporate items we already have, rather than having to buy props. When we began bouncing ideas off each other, she immediately began to list items she had that could be used in the videos and ask me in exchange. We used this to decide which song would be best. 

Finally, she is my friend. This might not always be a plus, but I have worked with her before and I know her weaknesses and she knows mine, making us cohesive partners. We know what we like and work well together in terms of vision. 

    This leads us to our song choice. We chose "I Ain't Worried" by OneRepublic. This song was specifically written for the 2022 movie Top Gun: Maverick which is the sequel to my all-time favorite movie. Because of this, I already knew the song and liked it. It was on the shorter side which was also a bonus. Then, I suggested it to Ja'neece who loved its upbeat nature. We bounced around ideas for a music video and our idea for "I Ain't Worried" was fun, economical, and reasonably easy to execute. 

With that in mind, I am super excited about research! Signing off!

 Hello there again! I am in a group with three others, Kaylie E, Sarah R, and Sara S. I am very excited about this group. Usually, I am more reserved when it comes to group projects and prefer to work by myself, but I decided to take a chance on this.       Sarah R is someone I know to be especially dependable and hard-working. She is very good about not letting others do her work for her. However, media is not her strongest point, so I am not sure what her role will be once we start. The actor will wear a white shirt and jeans without any obvious make-up. We chose to use neutral lighting to convey the blandness of the shot. They will use body language to convey boredom using a yawn, a sigh, etc whichever is the most convincing acting.  This scene does not include our pro duct because the introduction of the product builds excitement later.  Scene 2: This is where the product will be introduced. The setting, costumes, and actor remain the same in this scene. We will introduce our prop, a box of Dunkin’ Donuts with a focus of brighter light on the doughnuts, but the lighting still remains relatively neutral. This pans to follow the actor’s arm as they grab a doughnut. The entire section is a close-up at a high angle to show the most appealing view of the doughnuts. This serv...

Production: If You Like Piña Coladas...

  Hi! I’m Back Again! I was not directly involved in the editing process. As I had played a major part in planning the commercial and filming it, we agreed that another member (Sara) would edit. She also had the most experience, making her the most qualified. However, I did indirectly help with choices playing into our rough draft.  On the day of filming, Sara and I discussed music choices, and we agreed to the Piña Colada Song by Rupert Holmes. We chose this because it has a tropical and fun vibe that we thought really fit the commercial. For the classical music, we had agreed to use it, but the exact song chosen by Sara was Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 15. We chose classical music because it is generally considered “boring” to younger generations which is often Dunkin’s target group.
