CCR for Music Video

  1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?       While this project does little to challenge conventions, my partner and I utilized conventions a s a backbone for our project . Specifically, we used the conventions of the pop - rock genre such as wearing casual clothes and numerous action shots to develop our video . However, t he main focus we took was portraying the pressure on the youth to choose careers which often results in high anxiety . By juxtaposing the stories of two teenagers who did not completely have their lives figured out, we portrayed teenagers resisting this anxiety by being calm about their ind ecision . Our first character, Christina, wishes to be a performer but it is not particularly skilled . We follow this by adding the upbeat phrase  that she is still following what she loves which is more important than being good at it . This again portrays the anxiety teenagers feel...

The Final Product! Maybe Skip This One....

This commercial was my second major project and it once again was a learning experience. Most of the time I was bumbling my way through it as I was the primary decision-maker, but I figured it out and both of us took on our best roles to contribute to the project. My partner and I got along very easily and agreed on a lot which made this project easy. At the end of the day, it was a bunch of fun and taught me so much about how media works. I hope you enjoy it!

The Last Return: Music Video Edition

Image
Hi! I hope you are doing well!      Due to procrastination, the final draft is still not finished which means there is not much content for this blog. Instead, I am going to use this space as something of a self-reflection of myself on the project and share some input from those around me.      In my own opinion, the beginning of this project started very strong but went downhill afterward. Both my partner and I have hectic schedules that resulted in a lot of procrastination and midnight half-thought decisions which led to a worse project than I could have produced. My brother, who I mentioned was good with filming, had offered to help over our school break a couple weeks ago, but I chose not to and procrastinate which once again worsened the quality of the project. Finally, as proven by my procrastination, I did not take this project as seriously as I could have. With all of my classes, this has one of the lightest workloads so I dismissed it as nee...

The Final Stretch

Image
Today, I managed to finish the rough draft of the music video! It went pretty well, and I like the way it looks though I believe I still have a few edits. We did not end up having to reshoot some scenes because I could edit the lighting.       The first scene still has messed up lighting but in the interest of time, I am leaving it as it is because the scenes all work together and I do not wish to mess with the time. I also realized there was a sound issue, but it is not entirely noticeable, so once again I am going to leave it unless I have extra time to fix it. This week has been pretty tough with work, so I have been procrastinating on this project. At the end of the semester, I have a lot of tests and homework as well as preparing for exams.       The rest of the scenes are mostly the same as I described last time, but I zoomed in on one of my partners ones that was filmed vertically instead of historically. It turns...

Ding! Ding! Ding! Editing Round Two!

Image
It’s time for round two!  It is so much easier on this program. As I went to edit, it turns out the programs had very much in common. As I messed around with the settings, I found I could keep the retro/vintage idea and even improve the colorization. Similarly, this allows the zooming in which means I can keep the basic structure of the original idea rather than the changes I had to make prior. While I am taking a break from editing to write this, I was able to complete it much quicker than I expected.  I am not as behind schedule as expected and should make up lost time today. This is especially important because I have a busy week before midterms. With all that work piling up, I am glad for the easy software because I might be able to finish it during class.  The software is similar in the way it is operated and how each editing section is divided. It has similar controls for music and transitions which will make it cleaner to edit. However, one thing that is dif...
