The One Where I Got the Pillow and Started Screaming

 

    Hi! I hope it is going well!

My project isn't. 

    Last night, I managed to finish a rough draft of the final edited music video. When I went to download it, I learned that the software I was using required a watermark the size of half the screen to download it. The only way I was allowed to remove it was for $60 a year. This is obviously not an option, so I scrapped what I had and found another software that guaranteed no watermark, but it is still frustrating to have to start over. Before, I had been tight on time to finish, and now I am solidly behind schedule to edit it all. Not only that, I have learned another editing program which is also time-consuming. From what I have observed so far, it does not have as wide a range of editing options which means I might have to rethink the vintage camera idea. 


Alright, that should be my rant over. 


    Which leads to Plan B. I have limited time this week, but I will try to find a way to squeeze it in. I will edit the length of the clips together tonight along with the final checks to music given those are no-brainers are any program. That gives me tomorrow afternoon to learn the program and add the vintage filters and edit lighting. On Thursday, I can reshoot anything I need to reshoot, and on Friday I can finish the final draft. 


    Saturday, I am at work the entire day and my parents are inviting friends over for dinner which means it is not an option for doing work. This leaves Sunday as a spare day if anything else goes wrong considering the project is due Monday. I do not like how last minute it is, but sometimes projects are like that.

I Ain't Worried... About This Research...But Maybe Making the Music Video

  The song we chose, I Ain’t Worried by OneRepublic, is a pop-rock song. This is a fusion of the pop and rock genres that includes the upbeat tempo and mainstream music trends with the overwhelming use of guitars and drums. It is very popular, so we could study mainstream artists such as P!nk, Maroon 5, The Script, and other songs by OneRepublic.  The first video we studied was Just Like Fire by P!nk. This video was especially helpful because the music video was also based on a movie, the same as the song we chose. It begins with the diegetic sound of dialogue but includes no other sound excluding music without the video. The music itself remains loud and constant. Additionally, there are certain lyrics the characters would lip sync, but no sound would actually be heard other than P!nk’s voice. Genre Decision: Thriller!

 Hello! After researching all three genres, Wedecided to go with the thriller genre as it fits our concept for the movie the best.     With genre 1, action, it would be too difficult to include into our concept in the short few minutes we have. One of the biggest issues we had with the action genre was that many of the movies follow the conventions almost perfectly, and we would like some creative freedom. Furthermore, a common sound convention is that studios will hire artists to create custom soundtracks for them. We simply don't have the means for that, finding the "right" soundtrack while keeping to the conventions will prove difficult. Moreover, action movies just don't hold the same type of feeling we are trying to invoke.
