Title Design Research Websites: Setting Things Up!
WATCH THE TITLE:
When researching on Google for title designs, I found this website that provides me with a multitude of options. Launched in 2006, Watch the Title offers a straightforward, uncomplicated way to find the titles you seek. They provide categories separated into, Feature Films, TV Shows, Event Titles, Student Projects, Video Games, and French Fridays, which make this easy to navigate. They hold over 200 title sequences and behind-the-scenes content, providing many options. I am researching ways to make our title sequence, as I don't have a clear image of what I want to do. By using this website, I will be able to see a variety of different styles from both films and tv shows to see what fits my idea for the movie. What I love about this website is the fact it has a list of designers who made the title sequences. This gives credit to those who put in the work to design it, and if I enjoy their style I can view their other works. Furthermore, they do something similar when searching for specific title sequences, it shows both the designer and the studio which produced it which, again, allows me to view their other works. Overall, this website is structured so it's easy for anyone to use and will aid us well in the research of these titles.
ART OF THE TITLE:
When looking for more title sequences, I stumbled upon Art of the Title. Art of the Title also provides a simple way to view these titles. As I stated earlier, am researching the best way to set up my title sequence. One thing I think Art of the Title does better than Watch the Title is that it provides an extensive list of designers. There is an entire page dedicated to each designer, with an easy-to-navigate list of the designers featuring pictures of them. When you click on these pictures, you will find a brief description of the designer themselves and their work. This provides me with a detailed list of who did what, so if I like a designer's style, I can easily view their other works to gain more inspiration. The one thing Art of the Title doesn't do which Watch the Title does is provide a filter for films, shows, etc. However, I don't think this will set me back much as a simple Google Search will solve this issue. Overall, Art of the Title will be a valuable source to view and gain inspiration from their wide variety of title sequences.
