WATCH THE TITLE:   When researching on Google for title designs, I found this website that provides me with a multitude of options. Launched in 2006, Watch the Title offers a straightforward, uncomplicated way to find the titles you seek. They provide categories separated into, Feature Films, TV Shows, Event Titles, Student Projects, Video Games, and French Fridays, which make this easy to navigate. They hold over 200 title sequences and behind-the-scenes content, providing many options. I am researching ways to make our title sequence, as I don't have a clear image of what I want to do. By using this website, I will be able to see a variety of different styles from both films and tv shows to see what fits my idea for the movie. What I love about this website is the fact it has a list of designers who made the title sequences. This gives credit to those who put in the work to design it, and if I enjoy their style I can view their other works. Furthermore, they do something similar ...

Hello! In 2022, the Menu was directed by Mark Mylod and we have chosen to study for our own film. A satire-thrilled, the premise of the story is a young couple travels to a remote island to eat at an exclusive restaurant where the chef has prepared a lavish menu, with some shocking surprises. The chef, fed up with the affluent lifestyles of the wealthy intends to kill both the staff and patrons as part of something that can only be described as a culinary cult. Inspired by a true story, the Menu was nominated for multiple Golden Globes in 2023.  What elements (Conventions) of the genre that you chose to base your final task on do this movie have? The cinematographer gradually increases suspense throughout the film by using birds-eye shots of the meals, including shots of the actual restaurant floor in addition to the food. Also, the director employs overlapping diegetic sound to insert the viewer into the situation and heighten the tension. The editing sharpens and accelerates as t...

Genre Decision: Thriller!

Image
Hello! After researching all three genres, Wedecided to go with the thriller genre as it fits our concept for the movie the best.     With genre 1, action, it would be too difficult to include into our concept in the short few minutes we have. One of the biggest issues we had with the action genre was that many of the movies follow the conventions almost perfectly, and we would like some creative freedom. Furthermore, a common sound convention is that studios will hire artists to create custom soundtracks for them. We simply don't have the means for that, finding the "right" soundtrack while keeping to the conventions will prove difficult. Moreover, action movies just don't hold the same type of feeling we are trying to invoke. We want the audience to be on the edge of their seat, not knowing what will come next, rather than combat scenes.       Genre 2, horror, we decided against as the qualifications for a movie to be a horror movie proved very diff...
