Welcome to My Brain...

 Hello again! 

Once again, my name is Emma Taintor and I am in 10th grade!  I have learned so much from this year and previous projects that I have completed within this class. The commercial was an amazing introductory project, and I worked with a wonderful group. However, we all lived far away from each other, making filming difficult later in the process. Additionally, given it was our first project, we were all clueless, but gained knowledge as we went along. Reflecting now that I have had more time, I am proud of how our commercial turned out, but that’s because I mostly remember the amazing taste of those doughnuts. 


After that, I had more experience directing as well as filming which gave me better insight into using camera angles, shots, and Mis-en-sen to create the best possible video. Later, I applied this to the following project, a music video. Partnering with a different person, my friend Ja’neece, we worked well together because we already had a rapport when it came to bouncing ideas off each other. We had a similar vision which led to some more ludicrous ideas. While we remained in the land of the sane, our video did turn out to be rather complicated to plan. Due to us both having complications of family emergencies and sickness, our project was rather rushed and last minute. However, it still turned out well and I would say the greatest issue was some of the filming itself that we did not have time to fix due to the last minute of the project. 


For this final project, I am excited to put these experiences together and create a much better project. I have already begun to think about ideas to start a movie and have watched one or two in anticipation. The first two minutes of a movie do sound rather difficult, especially with how much thought must be put into the shots, angles, editing, and mis-en-sen. However, I feel I am up to the challenge and am ready to attempt it. I do hope to work with a partner to ease the burden of finding actors and directing in such. This project should hopefully be more professional. I am very excited to do it and cannot wait to begin. Thank you so much, and I hope you have a nice day!

 Hello there again! I am in a group with three others, Kaylie E, Sarah R, and Sara S. I am very excited about this group. Usually, I am more reserved when it comes to group projects and prefer to work by myself, but I decided to take a chance on this.       Sarah R is someone I know to be especially dependable and hard-working. She is very good about not letting others do her work for her. However, media is not her strongest point, so I am not sure what her role will be once we start. I Ain't Worried... About This Research...But Maybe Making the Music Video

  The song we chose, I Ain’t Worried by OneRepublic, is a pop-rock song. This is a fusion of the pop and rock genres that includes the upbeat tempo and mainstream music trends with the overwhelming use of guitars and drums. It is very popular, so we could study mainstream artists such as P!nk, Maroon 5, The Script, and other songs by OneRepublic.  The first video we studied was Just Like Fire by P!nk. This video was especially helpful because the music video was also based on a movie, the same as the song we chose. It begins with the diegetic sound of dialogue but includes no other sound excluding music without the video. The music itself remains loud and constant. Additionally, there are certain lyrics the characters would lip sync, but no sound would actually be heard other than P!nk’s voice. Genre Decision: Thriller!

 Hello! After researching all three genres, Wedecided to go with the thriller genre as it fits our concept for the movie the best.     With genre 1, action, it would be too difficult to include into our concept in the short few minutes we have. One of the biggest issues we had with the action genre was that many of the movies follow the conventions almost perfectly, and we would like some creative freedom. Furthermore, a common sound convention is that studios will hire artists to create custom soundtracks for them. We simply don't have the means for that, finding the "right" soundtrack while keeping to the conventions will prove difficult. Moreover, action movies just don't hold the same type of feeling we are trying to invoke. We want the audience to be on the edge of their seat, not knowing what will come next, rather than combat scenes.       Genre 2, horror, we decided against as the qualifications for a movie to be a horror movie proved very diff...
