      Hi! I hope it is going well! My project isn't.       Last night, I managed to finish a rough draft of the final edited music video. When I went to download it, I learned that the software I was using required a watermark the size of half the screen to download it. The only way I was allowed to remove it was for $60 a year. This is obviously not an option, so I scrapped what I had and found another software that guaranteed no watermark, but it is still frustrating to have to start over. Before, I had been tight on time to finish, and now I am solidly behind schedule to edit it all. Not only that, I have learned another editing program which is also time-consuming. From what I have observed so far, it does not have as wide a range of editing options which means I might have to rethink the vintage camera idea.  Alright, that should be my rant over.       Which leads to Plan B.   Today was my second day of filming! This was definitely more difficult than the first day.  To begin, I tried filming inside using artificial lighting which as I expected, turned out horrid. Instead, I had to wait until I could use natural lighting which had its own host of issues. The only real “hallway” in my house is by the door which meant I had to deal with the glare of the light while filming. This was difficult, but I managed to eventually find the right angle to minimize this issue, and the rest I plan to fix in editing.  Once I dealt with that, I had a couple other issues as well. For one, my mother’s back issues stopped her from being able to film from a squat to shoot the shoe-tying scene which instead resulted in a very interesting three-minute fight with a chair. Eventually, we recorded the shoe-tying scene before doing the two walking scenes. These scenes were relatively easy, but I still had to deal with the glare which took a couple takes.  Th...

  Today was my first day of filming! It went well and I was able to finish it all in one go! My scenes are split between outside and inside scenes, so I did the outside ones today because of the nice weather.  Doing it at sunset time, the video had great lighting that made it easier. Due to issues with timing, I was the actor which meant I needed my mother to film me. She does not have experience with cameras, so eliminating the need for specific angles for light made it much easier to teach her how to do it. This also resulted in very neutral lighting which will make it easier for me to edit later on in the process.  I had to change the last skateboard scene slightly. My skateboard turned out to be broken which meant I could not use it. After consideration, I decided the skateboard could be discarded as it added to the aesthetic, not defined it. Hello there! I hope you are doing well. Finally, my group and I got together to outline all of the scenes and how they will be shot.  First Scene:  In the first scene,  one actor will be leaning up against a wall, sitting with their legs in front of them. Whistling and tapping their leg to the beginning of the song, the character will be shown in a wide shot from eye level.  Second Scene: Next, it will jump to the same actor's hand grabbing a skateboard. This will pan as they continue to walk as shot from the waist down from a high angle. They will be wearing a guitar on their back. It will end with them setting down the skateboard.  Third Scene:  The shot from the previous scene will be an action match to a person picking and strumming a guitar that will zoom out from a medium close-up to a wide shot of the actress on her skateboard.  Fourth Scene:  As the music switches to the chorus, we will switch to a new character.   Finally, we have started to outline how to do our music video. There is a lot of planning that needs to be done, so this will serve to set up and organize our ideas. We need to consider all things in the music video, such as props, setting, costumes, and even a backup plan if something goes wrong.  Firstly, we finalized our song choice of I Ain’t Worried by OneRepublic and have begun to edit it, so that it is the required length.   Props We decided we were going to do multiple narratives in the music video which means we need a few different props.  Firstly, we are going to use a guitar to show a teenager who dreams of being a famous singer. Secondly, we are going to a skateboard to again show guitarist teenagers to play on the stereotype Our second prop will be an old pair of converse to show a dancer.   The song we chose, I Ain’t Worried by OneRepublic, is a pop-rock song. This is a fusion of the pop and rock genres that includes the upbeat tempo and mainstream music trends with the overwhelming use of guitars and drums. It is very popular, so we could study mainstream artists such as P!nk, Maroon 5, The Script, and other songs by OneRepublic.  The first video we studied was Just Like Fire by P!nk. This video was especially helpful because the music video was also based on a movie, the same as the song we chose. It begins with the diegetic sound of dialogue but includes no other sound excluding music without the video. The music itself remains loud and constant. Additionally, there are certain lyrics the characters would lip sync, but no sound would actually be heard other than P!nk’s voice.   Hello again! This time I am only partnering with one person, my friend, Ja'neece. I loved my previous group and they were a pleasure to work with, but we all lived far from each other which made it difficult to film. So, I chose to partner with someone I liked and who lived close by. Ja'neece also is someone who will be really helpful in any media project.       For one, she is into fashion, TV shows, music, and anything Old Hollywood which gives her a lot of ideas when it comes to media projects. One of her favorite YouTubers is Mina Lee, who is very big on sustainability, economical clothing trends, and novel fashion content on social media. This will be a big help in designing costumes and such as well as developing ideas. With so much exposure to media, she immediately knows what kind of thing she likes to film and what ideas she would like put to life which makes her easy to work with as she is so aware.       Secondly, Ja'neece will b...
